Rourkela: The Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) has declared a part of Sector-16 in the city as a containment zone after the detection of a COVID-19 positive case in the area.
The 48-hour clampdown came into force from Thursday (July 2), RMC Commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida said.
The following areas in Sector-16 are included under the containment zone:
— The street from quarter numbers A-1 to A-12
— The street from quarter numbers A-13 to A-36
— The shops located on both sides of the two streets from Rathin Ghosh Tiffin Shop to Asta Sambhu Sweets.
Parida said that people will be restricted from entering or going out of the containment zone during the clampdown period.
Also, all vehicles including public transport as well as personal movement will be stopped and all government and private institutions and shopping establishments in the containment area shall be closed.
The supply of essential items and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed by the Town Services Department, Rourkela Steel Plant and SAIL-Rourkela, he said.
The RMC Commissioner also informed that the containment order may be extended if the situation warrants.
