Bhubaneswar: A young filmmaker from Odisha, Amrutendu Baral, has received the prestigious India International Excellence Award for his for his adventure film ‘Mission Gange’.
Baral received the award in the ‘Film Maker of the Year, Documentary’ category at a function in Dubai recently for his film which was shot under the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation Project.
Bollywood legend Anil Kapoor and BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain handed over the award to the filmmaker.
“It feels great to be acknowledged and I thank India International Excellence Awards for recognizing my work. I am proud that I could represent my state Odisha on an international platform. I also thank Padma Bhusan Bachhendri Pal for being a guiding strength in my adventure journey,” Baral said.
The India International Excellence Award is a SAWE (Society for Acknowledgement for Work Excellence) initiative to recognize talented individuals for their exceptional work.
Among others from the film fraternity; Madhur Bhandarkar, Sunil Grover and Manish Paul also received awards for their individual brilliance.
Earlier, Baral had filmed Biju Patnaik Himalayan Expedition Project by the Odisha government. He is now working on an Odia commercial film and hopes to bring something good for the new age film audience.
