Bhubaneswar: Fire Service week was observed by Odisha fire services department at Baramunda ground here on Friday.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest, Fire Services Director General Bijay Kumar Sharma said, “Apart from fire fighting, the role of fire services officials is very crucial in any emergency situations, natural calamities and accidents by use of modern equipment and vehicles.”
The Bhubaneswar fire centre has created a special identity of itself in the country. Efforts are on to improve the infrastructure of the fire centre, Sharma added.
A parade was organised with the participation of fire personnel from different parts of the state.
Rich tributes were paid to 20 fire fighters, who sacrificed their lives in line to their duty across the country last year.
