Odisha Fire Services Personnel Launch Indefinite Cease-Work Stir

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha fire services personnel on Monday launched an indefinite cease-work strike across the state to press for various demands.

More than 5000 firemen, havildars and drivers of the fire services department have joined the strike.

“The major demands include wages at par with Odisha police personnel, registration of Havildar fireman association, regularisation of contractual employees, fixation of job chart and filling up of vacant posts,” convener of Odisha Fire Services Employees’ Union Akshay Pradhan informed.

He alleged that they had apprised the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and other senior officials concerned, but nothing has been done so far.

The strike will continue till the demands are met, he added.
