Cuttack: Local fishermen rescued a woman from Mahanadi river after she attempted to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge in Cuttack district on Friday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman arrived at Jatamundia in Banki block on a private bus from Angul. Later, she jumped off the bridge.
However, some fishermen quickly swam towards the woman and brought her safely to the river bank.
Following information, Fire Brigade personnel from Banki rushed to the spot and took the woman to the sub-divisional hospital. Her condition is stated to be stable.
Investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the suicide bid by the woman, who hails from Angul.
