Bhubaneswar: The water level at Hirakud Dam is steadily falling and was 620.71 ft at 9 am on Saturday. Four more sluice gates of the dam were closed on Saturday and excess water is being released through 16 gates.
The inflow of water at the reservoir was 1,83,381 cusecs while the outflow was 3,54,604 cusecs at 9 am on Saturday.
The water flow at Mundali in Cuttack was 8,57,915 lakh cusecs, at Barmul 7,48,000 lakh cusecs and at Khairamal 5,14,000 lakh cusecs in the Mahanadi river system.
After the water level at Hirakud Dam fell below 622 ft by Friday noon, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena said the target was to bring it further down to 620.5 ft by Saturday morning.
The water level in the reservoir stood at 621.93 ft on Friday noon.
