Bhubaneswar: A 25-year-old woman was found hanging in a women’s hostel at Patia in Odisha capital on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Sonali Sanghamitra Parida from Kendrapada’s Patkura.
According to sources, Sonali was working with a real estate company near Fire Station at Baramunda. She was found hanging inside the bathroom of the hostel at lane-2, Adarsh Vihar under Infocity police limits, where she had been staying for the last 2-3 years.
Sonali was also a food vlogger and was active on social media.
Infocity police have recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.
While the reason behind her alleged death by suicide is yet to ascertained, the family suspect that she was murdered. “She used to call home twice or thrice in a day. On Saturday, she had spoken to all family members. Her two brothers are all employed and so, there is no financial issue in the family. After her younger brother got a job recently, she had requested me not to work anymore,” the grieving father told the media.
He added that they had lodged a complaint with police, suspecting foul play in her death.
Reacting on the allegation, the hostel warden said, “She was found hanging in a bathroom. We informed her family and the police. We don’t have any clue about her being killed by anyone, nor do we suspect anyone.”
