Odisha Forest Officials Bust Wildlife Products Smuggling Racket, Arrest 7 Persons

Bhubaneswar: Forest officials have busted a wildlife smuggling racket and arrested 7 persons of an inter-state gang in Odisha.

According to sources, the Wildlife wing of the Forest department had kept a close watch on the gang and was able to nab its seven members. The Forest officials seized several wildlife body parts from their possession.

The seized products included five leopard skins, one fishing cat skin, one leopard cat skin and huge quantities of pangolin scales.

Principal Chief Conservators of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda in a post in X (formerly Twitter) said it was a major crackdown on illegal trade of wildlife body parts by the racketeers. He congratulated the officials and said the kingpin of the racket would be arrested soon.
