Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Sunday apprehended a forest range officer, Sukumar Dukhu, while allegedly carrying Rs 2.33 lakh in unaccounted cash.
According to Vigilance sources, Dukhu, who serve
s as forest range officer of Gudari Range in Rayagada district, was intercepted near Indrabati Bridge in Nabarangpur district based on specific intelligence inputs. He was travelling from Gudari to his residence at Senapati Street in Nabarangpur in his official vehicle. He, however, could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of the recovered cash, following which the entire amount along with the vehicle was seized.
Simultaneous searches are currently underway at three locations connected to Dukhu to probe allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
