Sambalpur: The Odisha government has suspended the Sadar forest ranger Gouri Shankar Dash for alleged dereliction of duty.
“He has been charged with negligence in providing protection to elephants. Six elephants had died in the Sadar range area between 2019 and January 2021,” Sambalpur DFO Sanjeet Kumar said.
The Chief Wildlife Warden and PCCF (Wildlife) HS Upadhyay had written to the state government on December 24, 2020, seeking disciplinary action against Dash, he added.
