Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo on Wednesday informed that KALIA scheme’s destiny will be decided soon. He responded to BJD MLA Goutam Buddha Das’ question in the Assembly by saying that high-level talks are on to decide the future course of action.
Singh Deo, who holds the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment portfolio said, “A high-level discussion is underway over the KALIA scheme and a decision over the future of the yojana will be taken soon.”
Das posed the question, whether or not the current BJP government will keep funding the State’s small and marginal farmers under the program. “Has the government decided to raise the funding if it intends to carry out the plan,” he asked.
It may be noted that KALIA supports more than 45.67 lakh beneficiaries, while 29.73 lakh farmers are availing benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in the State.
Pandemonium hit the Assembly proceedings in the meantime, as Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House many times during the day.
