Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) appear to have come under the scanner of the General Administration department of the Odisha government over favour shown to builders.
Sources said that officers of BDA and BMC helped certain builders in getting plans approved through manipulations by showing roads on government land.
The Director of Estates has sought detailed reports from the Vice Chairman of BDA and Commissioner of BMC after it was found that plans were approved by taking advance payment towards security deposit without the knowledge of the General Administration department.
It said ORERA has requested for clarification on permission to use of government land for providing access to real estate projects as per the decision taken at the BP and DP Committee held by BDA.
Sources said revised plan was approved by the BMC for the project HP SQUARE on realisation of Rs 63,51,696/- as a security deposit for approach road over a plot in Baramunda mouza.
Another plan was approved for project ‘SHUVAM MIDTOWN’ on realisation of Rs 2,46,59,360/- as a security deposit for using strip of government land from a plot in Bomikhal mouza for access to the projects.
Noting that the GA & PG department has not accorded any permission in the matter, the Director of Estates asked BDA and BMC to submit a clarification under what circumstances the DP and BP Committee of BDA and BMC has approved the building plan of Real Estate Projects, allowing access over government land.
