Kendrapada: The court of District Judge, Kendrapada on Monday awarded life imprisonment to Sheikh Qadir alias Munna, eldest son of dreaded gangster Sheikh Hyder Ali, in connection with the 2013 murder case of a fertiliser trader in Aul.
Talking to the media, Public Prosecutor Manas Ranjan Behera said Qadir and his associates had demanded extortion money from the trader Saha Nawaz. As he refused to pay, Qadir shot him dead inside his shop.
While eight associates of Qadir were let off by the court as police failed to provide tangible evidence against them, the cops produced evidence against the Hyder’s son as the prime accused, he added.
According to police, Qadir has more than 30 cases of threatening, extortion, tender fixing, bombing, loot and murder pending in different police stations.
