Puri: A possible mishap was averted after compressed natural gas (CNG) being transported in a truck leaked near Odisha’s Puri on Monday. No harm was caused to anyone due to the leak and people in the area are reported to be safe.
Sources said the incident took place at Malatipatapur when the vehicle of GAIL Gas Ltd was carrying CNG cylinders from Bhubaneswar to Puri town this morning.
Soon after the leak was observed at Malatipatapur, the driver of the vehicle and locals informed the fire service. A Quick Response Vehicle of GAIL Gas Ltd and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and took immediate steps to check the leak.
While necessary precautionary measures were taken to prevent any untoward incident, the fire service personnel swung into action by spraying water.
The exact reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. Further details are awaited.
