Bhubaneswar: Odisha is gearing up to celebrate the International Yoga Day on Friday in a big way to highlight the importance of the ancient practice of yoga.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead the main event at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. He will join the programme at 7 am, official sources said on Thursday.
Minister of State for Higher Education, Sports and Youth Services Suryabanshi Suraj is also slated to attend the event being organised at Kalinga Stadium in the capital city on the occasion.
Similarly, Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo is scheduled to attend the yoga event at Kasturba School field at Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar, while Pravati Parida, another Deputy CM, will join the programme at Konark.
Other Ministers, Members of Parliament and MLAs are also scheduled to attend events being organised in different parts of the state on the occasion of the International Yoga Day.
This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlights the importance of incorporating yoga into every aspect of life for individual and community well-being.
