Odisha Girl Karishma Sharma Excited About Lunch With Big B After KBC Success

Mumbai/New Delhi: Karishma Sharma from Odisha’s Rairangpur, the hometown of President Droupadi Murmu, seems to have left a lasting impression on host Amitabh Bachchan after acing the highly-challenging ‘Super Sandook’ segment in Kaun Banega Crorepati 16.

The Big B mentioned about his invite to her for lunch to celebrate her success during the latest episode when popular comedian Samay Raina was on the hot seat.

Despite initial nervousness, Karishma, who shared that she was fulfilling her father’s dream by appearing on the show, courageously answered questions, winning Rs 12,50,000.

She had considered using a lifeline on the very first question, “In a car, wipers usually clear dust and water from which of these surfaces?” for Rs 1,000. However, she quickly gathered her confidence and picked the correct answer.

Noticing her nervousness, Big B got off from his seat, gently held her hand and encouraged her to take three deep breaths. He even offered her water and tissues, ensuring she felt more at ease before continuing the game.

Later keeping with the tradition, host Amitabh Bachchan extended a lunch invitation to Karishma and her family as she successfully answer all 10 questions of ‘Super Sandook’ correctly, only to be reminded by her about the number of members in her family.

She had earlier revealed that she comes from a large joint family consisting of 25-30 members and had also requested Big B to connect with her family via video call, which he graciously obliged.

“Kya bataye ye toh humare liye pareshaani hogayi hai, pure parivaar ko bulana padega. 25-30 toh inka parivaar hai. Hum aise nahi pehk rahe hain, 8 parivaar ko ab tak hum bula chuke hain. Ab aayenge jitne bhi aayenge usmein kya,” he said while asking her about their preferences.

For Rs 12,50,000 question, ‘Which of these terms was used by the British for Indian Surveyors and explorers who mapped the Himalayas and Central Asia?’, Karishma took the lifeline ‘Video Call A Friend’. And got the right answer after using ‘Double Dip’.

She then quit the show after being unable to answer the ‘event when Egyptian athlete Nada Hafez competed in the 2024 Olympics while she was seven months pregnant’.

Speaking about her experience, Karishma said it started sinking in only after she saw the response of her family members. “The first 10-15 minutes was like a dream as I took the seat before Amitabh sir. Obviously I am happy for winning Rs 12.5 lakh, but the best part was that me and my entire family got a chance to have lunch with Amitabh sir,” she told a local channel.

Karishma could get her name registered to participate in the quiz programme after three attempts. “As I have been preparing for UPSC exams, I didn’t have to put in any extra effort for the KBC,” she said.

Friends and family members had put up large LED displays at two locations in her city to cheer her during the episode aired on January 23 and 27.
