Odisha Girl Sold In Haryana Rescued In Critical Condition

Bhiwani: Haryana police on Friday rescued a minor girl, a native of Odisha, in a critical condition after she reportedly jumped off a two-storey building to escape her tormentor.

According to police sources, the girl’s uncle had brought her to Haryana on the pretext of visiting a relative and later sold her to one Sandeep and his mother Sankuntala of Dhani village for Rs 2 lakh, two months ago.

The 15-year-old girl suffered critical injuries while attempting to flee and is now undergoing treatment at Hisar hospital.

The victim also told the police that Sandeep had forcefully married her at a local temple. Since then she was kept in confinement and constantly raped by him.

On basis of the girl’s statement, Haryana police have arrested the mother-son duo. They have been under sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.
