Odisha Girls Go Down Fighting To Jharkhand, Settle For Silver In Sub-Junior Hockey Nationals

Bhubaneswar: Odisha girls fought hard but had to ultimately settle for silver medal in the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s National Championship 2025.

Up against home team Jharkhand in the final at Ranchi’s Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Stadium, Odisha were in the match till the final hooter s they trailed by a wafer-thin margin of 0-1 on Monday.

Despite their best efforts to find the equaliser and force a penalty shootout, Odisha failed to breach the stubborn defence of the Jharkhand team, which was egged on by the local crowd.

Jirn Soy Munda’s 27th-minute strike proved to be enough for Jharkhand to lift the trophy.

Haryana secured the bronze medal, edging out Mizoram 5-4 in a shootout after the teams were tied 3-3 in regulation time.
