Odisha Girls Win Gold At Yatching Championship

Chennai: Bringing laurels for the State, Odia girls bagged the gold medal in the sailing event, jointly organised by Tamil Nadu Sailing Association, in collaboration with Yatching Association of India and Port of Chennai.

The Odisha girls, Manaswini Maharana and Mamita Tudu, won the first prize, beating teams from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir.

In the men’s category, Odia lad Sekhar Rao clinched the silver medal along with Sai Kumar Kandula of Maharashtra.

The Championship was held under the aegis of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, which if part of the Khelo India initiative of the Union government.

The tournament is a precursor to the Asian Games selection trials to be held in Chennai from April 16.
