Berhampur: Gopalpur Beach Festival 2022, one of the major cultural events in south Odisha, will be held from December 24 to 28.
This was stated by Ganjam Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida through a Twitter post on Saturday.
The five-day festival is going to be held on the gonden beach of Gopalpur near Berhampur in Ganjam district after a gap of two years due to the Covid pandemic. The festival will showcase dance, music, songs, sand art and water sports.
Launched in 1997, the festival was discontinued for three years after the severe cyclone in October 1999. The event aims to revitalise the enriched cultural heritage and simultaneously attract tourists to Gopalpur.
Gopalpur MLA Pradip Panigrahi was taking a pivotal role in organising this cultural extravaganza every year before he was expelled from the BJD.
