Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday approved an affordable housing project over 2.79 acres land at the first meeting of the Empowered Committee on Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) at state secretariat here.
Chairing the crucial meeting, chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said, “Approval of this project is a major step towards development of social infrastructure in Kalinga Nagar Development Authority (KNDA).”
The Chief Secretary directed the agency concerned to prioritize proper planning and development of the industrial area within its jurisdiction.
Stressing on the necessity to intensify enforcement activities for stopping the illegal constructions and recovery of encroached land, Padhi asked the KNDA to protect the open government land in order to save it from encroachment.
At the meeting, the proposal for construction of a rental housing complex for construction workers was discussed in detail.
Jajpur Collector Ranjan Kumar Das said that an advisory committee for KNDA has been constituted by involving all the major stakeholders. The CDP has been approved by the state government, Das added.
The CDP of KNDA covers 161 revenue villages spreading over an area of 458.78sqkm. The land for approved housing project has been identified in Upargar Mouza under Vaysanaga Tehsil. The project will be developed in PPP mode and around 480 dwelling units will be allotted to economically weaker sections as per the provisions of affordable housing scheme, official sources said.
