Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to build high-rise complexes for both residential and commercial purposes in Unit-2 area of the state capital.
The projects will be built in public-private partnership (PPP) mode along Janpath in three phases, according to official sources.
As part of the plan, government quarters alongside Janpath from Master Canteen to Rajmahal will be demolished during the first phase. Quarter nos. VA-13/1 to VA-36/4 in Unit-2 area will be demolished during this period.
Next, the government quarters from Janpath to Shishu Bhawan will be demolished. In the final phase, the demolition drive will be carried out from Master Canteen to Gurdwara.
Sources said while the government’s Public Works Department will carry out the demolitions in around 31 acres of land, a private organization will invest in building the new high-rises. An agreement in this regard will be signed soon, they added.
Politicians and government employees living in the houses set to be demolished will be provided with rented accommodations or other quarters elsewhere in the city, the sources said.
