Malkangiri: Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal visited the remote Bonda PVTG in Malkangiri district on Tuesday and collected holy water from the famous Sita Kund.
Lal is the first Odisha Governor to visit Bonda hills, home to the Bonda PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group).
His visit was part of the 41-day ‘Sri Rama Van Gaman Path Kavya Yatra’, which aims to collect holy water from 232 places where Lord Ram had stayed during his 14-year exile, PTI reported.
The yatra, which began from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu on Mahashivaratri, will cover 6,500 km before reaching Ayodhya on Ram Navami.
Lal arrived in Bonda hills, a Naxal-hit area, by helicopter. He was accompanied by BSF and other security personnel. The Governor was received by the Bonda community. He walked down to Sita Kund, where Goddess Sita is believed to have taken bath while on her way to Dandakaranya.
