Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, currently on a visit to his native state Haryana, returned to Bhubaneswar for a day to attend the flagging off of Vande Bharat Express from Puri by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Governor, who is on a scheduled visit to Haryana until may 22, reached Bhubaneswar tonight. He will be proceeding to Puri to attend the Prime Minister’s event tomorrow, Raj Bhavan sources said.
“The Governor flew back specifically to attend the PM’s programme,” they said. He has no other major official engagement during his stay here tomorrow, they added.
Lal will be returning to Haryana on May 19 after attending the event. He will be in Haryana till May 22 and return to Odisha thereafter.
Apart from Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, local MP Pinaki Mishra and MLA Jayanta Kumar Sarangi will be present at Vande Bharat Express launch event at Puri railway station.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone and dedicate several railway projects worth more than Rs 8000 crores in Odisha besides flagging off Vande Bharat Express through video conference.
