Bhubaneswar: As a mark of respect and solidarity with the people affected by Cyclone Fani in Odisha, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal has decided not to hold the traditional ‘At Home’ celebration on Independence Day this year.
On Independence Day and Republic Day, the Governor hosts ‘At Home’ parties at the Raj Bhavan every year. These events are attended by politicians from different parties and eminent personalities. Freedom fighters are also felicitated on these occasions.
Notably, Fani made landfall near Puri coast on May 3, affecting several lakh people in Odisha. Besides Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were the other two important cities that were worst affected by the cyclonic storm.
