Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor on Monday issued the order for dissolution of the present Assembly.
In an official order, issued on Monday, Governor Raghubar Das said, “I hereby declare that the Odisha Legislative Assembly, constituted by the notification of Election Commission of India on May 25, 2019, will stand dissolved with effect from the date a newly elected legislature is constituted by the Commission.”
Earlier, the Odisha Cabinet recommended to the Governor for dissolution of the 16th Legislative Assembly, a day before the counting of votes for the twin elections held in the state.
The Cabinet took the decision at its last meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar. It decided that the Governor would be informed about the completion of the BJD government’s tenure and recommend dissolution of the Assembly.
