Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal on Thursday released a book titled ‘Dangaran Kuan’ on the life, culture and struggle of the Dongria Kondh tribe living at Niyamgiri hills.
The book is written by researcher and journalist Jitendra Patnaik.
Releasing the book, the Governor said ‘Dangaran Kuan’ is a rare research-based book. Jitendra’s effort to go to Niyamgiri hill for his research has set an example for others, he added.
He should continue his research on tribal communities, Lal said.
Notably, the meaning of ‘Dangaran Kuan’ is the man of forest. The 242-page book has six main chapters and 16 sub-chapters.
The book features mainly the myth surrounding the Dongaria Kondh community. It also sheds light on their work, problems and proposes solutions as well.
The preface of the book is written by noted writer, researcher and translator Asit Kumar Mohanty.
Notably, Patnaik had earlier written a book on Gond tribe titled ‘Dangar Uhade Jahna’. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had released the book, which is available in almost every library in Odisha.
