Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has accepted the resignation of Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena and sent the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to sources, the state government has formally accepted the resignation submitted by the senior IPS officer and forwarded the matter to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for further steps.
Meena, a 2013-batch IPS officer, had submitted his resignation from the All India Services citing personal reasons.
His decision had triggered speculation about his next course of action amid reports that he could join a family-run business in Rajasthan.
Meena, however, had clarified that his decision followed discussions with family members and friends and was not prompted by any external pressure or political interference. Having completed 13 years of service, he had sought privacy and respect for his personal choice.
Sources said Meena had submitted his resignation around three months ago, but the matter came to light in July.
Meena had earlier served as SP of Malkangiri, Angul and Ganjam districts and as DCP of Cuttack. He took charge as Bhubaneswar DCP on February 28, 2025.
An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and a UPSC rank-holder with an All India Rank of 849, Meena had done M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering.
Under All India Services rules, an IPS officer’s resignation becomes effective only after approval by the Union Home Ministry. With the state government forwarding the resignation, the Centre’s decision is now awaited.
Meena expressed gratitude to the Odisha government and citizens, saying he was proud to have served the people of the state.
