Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday announced Dharmapada award for eminent artist of the state Lalat Mohan Patnaik.
The prestigious Dharmapada award will be conferred on Patnaik for his lifetime achievement and contribution towards enrichment of visual art and sculpture. It is the highest honour conferred by the Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi in the field of art every year.
Professionally a textile designer of oriental forms of design in eastern region of India, Patnaik’s designs and art forms are influenced by Kalingan school of temple structure, folk culture of eastern India, Indian classical music, Mughal miniature paintings and martial art of Odisha.
A diploma holder in Fine Arts and Crafts Painting from Kalabhaban, Santiniketan, Viswa Bharati University, West Bengal, Patnaik has held exhibitions at Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, Bhubaneswar; Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata; Birla Academy of Arts and Culture, Kolkata and Indian festivals at London, Indonesia and New Delhi.
He is also a recipient of Sarala Samman award 2019 by IMFA trust, Artist Association of Odisha lifetime achievement award 2019 and Manomanini lifetime achievement award 2019.
