Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has announced Dussehra vacation for all its schools from October 20.
According to a notification issued by School and Mass Education department on Friday, the government schools will remain closed for 10 days including 2 Sundays for Dussehra. The vacation will start on October 20 and the schools will reopen on October 30.
Similarly, the department has announced that the government schools will remain closed on Saturday on the occasion of Mahalaya.
Mahalaya is considered an auspicious day in the Hindu calendar as it marks the beginning of Durga Puja. The rituals for performing puja to Goddess Durga are traditionally started on this day in several states, particularly Odisha and West Bengal.
