Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Wednesday announced an increase in the ex-gratia amount for construction workers of Odisha in case of death.
Addressing a Construction Workers Welfare Convention at Lok Seva Bhawan here, the CM said that the government will provide Rs 6 lakh instead of Rs 4 lakh as ex-gratia to next of the kin of workers for accidental death at construction sites. An ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh will be provided for natural death during their period of engagement, he said.
Earlier, the ex-gratia amount was Rs 2 lakh.
“Our government is committed for the development of construction workers,” he added.
Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja were present.
