Bhubaneswar: In order to help the patients suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), the Odisha government has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh for each of them.
A notification, issued by the Health and Family Welfare department, stated that the one-time aid is meant to help the patients meet the expenses towards electric wheelchair, physiotherapy, genetic test and treatment in super specialty institutions.
As per the notification, the family of the patient can submit the application for the financial assistance to the district collector he belongs to. The Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer (CDMPHO) would verify and determine the authenticity of the applicant.
After getting the approval from the CDMPHO, the collector would forward his approval for sanction of the assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The amount would be deposited in the bank account of the patient.
