Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced to name the medical college and hospital at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district after martyr Rendo Majhi.

The medical college, which will start functioning from the current academic year, will be named Saheed Rendo Majhi Medical College and Hospital, according to the Health and Family Welfare department.

The department, in a tweet on Monday, said, “Odisha Government is pleased to announce that Medical College and Hospital at Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi has been named as Saheed Rendo Majhi Medical College and Hospital in the honour of the great freedom fighter of Kalahandi district.”

Rendo Majhi, a tribal leader of Kalahandi, had waged an armed fight against the British during freedom movement. He laid down his life for the cause.
