Odisha Govt Appeals To Avail Free Precaution Dose Of COVID Vaccine Before Sept 30

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has appealed to the people to avail free booster dose of COVID vaccine before the end of September.

Speaking to media persons in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, director, Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi said at least 75% of people (2.40 crore) are yet to take the precaution doses against the disease. “An estimated 80,90,386 people have taken the booster shots whereas 23.32 lakh people yet to receive second dose,” said Panigrahi.

He appealed to the people, who have not received booster shots, to get themselves vaccinated as the free vaccination drive will end on September 30.

The director pointed out that most of the people, who have taken two COVID vaccine doses but have not availed the booster shot, belong to Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Puri and Sundargarh districts.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Centre had asked all its departments to organise COVID vaccination camps at the workplaces for providing free precaution doses of the vaccine to the eligible employees and their family members as part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The 75-days free COVID vaccination drive began on July 15.
