Bhubaneswar: Following a Election Commission of India (ECI) directive, the Odisha government has appointed new SPs for Deogarh and Rural Cuttack.

The Commission had ordered for transfer of two non-cadre officers – Ram Prasad Sahu and Mihir Kumar Panda – from the posts of SPs, Deogarh and Rural Cuttack, respectively.

Both Sahu and Panda were asked to report at State Police Headquarters.

On Friday, the government had appointed IAS officer Amrit Ruturaj, who was serving as Labour Commissioner, as Collector and District Magistrate of Dhenkanal after the ECI transferred non-cadre officer Manoranjan Mallick from the post for a level playing field during the upcoming twin polls.
