Bhubaneswar: Following a Election Commission of India (ECI) directive, the Odisha government has appointed new SPs for Deogarh and Rural Cuttack.
The Commission had ordered for transfer of two non-cadre officers – Ram Prasad Sahu and Mihir Kumar Panda – from the posts of SPs, Deogarh and Rural Cuttack, respectively.
IPS officer Anupama James, currently serving as SP Vigilance Organisation, was asked to assume charge as Deogarh SP on Saturday. Her batchmate and 2013 cadre officer, Loganayagi Divya, has been given charge of SP, Rural Cuttack. She was also serving as SP, Vigilance.
Both Sahu and Panda were asked to report at State Police Headquarters.
On Friday, the government had appointed IAS officer Amrit Ruturaj, who was serving as Labour Commissioner, as Collector and District Magistrate of Dhenkanal after the ECI transferred non-cadre officer Manoranjan Mallick from the post for a level playing field during the upcoming twin polls.
“Post of DM and SP in the district are encadred for officers from Indian administrative and Indian police service respectively,” read the official statement of the Commission.
