Odisha Govt Asks Hospitals To Continue Treatment Of BSKY Card Holders As Scheme Is Very Much Active

Bhubaneswar: Amid reports of some private hospitals denying cashless treatment to beneficiaries of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), the Odisha government on Thursday made it clear that the health facility scheme is very much active with budgetary support.

The state government asked the empanelled hospitals to continue treatment to BSKY card holders as before as the scheme remains active with budgetary support.

“It has been clarified by the Health and Family Welfare department that BSKY scheme remains active with approved budgetary support,” an official statement said.

Hospitals are to continue treatment to beneficiaries and all claims raised by hospitals will be paid by SHAS as before, it said.

The MOU signed with empanelled hospitals remains in force. Hospitals are requested to continue the treatment as before.

“Hospitals are to ensure that patients do not face any difficulty or disruption in availing services,” the statement added.

It further said that the BSKY card holder patients continue getting treatment in empanelled hospitals. As per available data, empanelled hospitals booked treatment packages for more than 5800 patients on June 4.

Similarly, on June 5 treatment packages were booked for more than 5389 patients by these hospitals.

The government advised BSKY Card holders not to panic and remain in confusion about BSKY.

The statement came amid reports that some private hospitals denied cashless treatment facilities to beneficiaries of the BSKY, citing a change in government.

Sources said these private hospitals fear that the scheme may be discontinued and their dues may not be cleared due to the change in govt.

Beneficiaries have alleged that this behaviour from healthcare institutions may negatively affect the treatment of patients.
