Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday assured the agitating outsourced employees of looking into their demands.
A delegation of the Odisha Government Outsourcing Employees Federation submitted their memorandum of demands in chief minister’s grievance cell on the day. Senior officers in the cell discussed the demands in details. They assured that they would try to explore ways to solve the demands, a release from CMO said.
Intensifying their agitation in support of the demands, the members of the Federation staged a protest in Bhubaneswar on Monday. Hundreds of outsources employees took out a rally and staged a demonstration at Lower PMG square.
They had held similar protests in Sambalpur and Cuttack earlier this month. In Bhubaneswar rally, they threatened to intensify agitation to other districts of the state. Their demands include equal pay for equal work, job security and salary hike among other things.
In February, they had welcomed the government’s decision to bring the outsourced employees under Mo Sarkar initiative but demanded regularisation of their jobs. They had threatened to resort to agitation, if their demand is not fulfilled.
