Odisha Govt Attracts Rs 4,940 Crore Investment In Wind Energy

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has attracted investment of around Rs 4,940 crore in wind energy.

The prospective investors assured the investment to produce 575 MW of wind energy at one-to-one meetings with the senior government officials and officials of GRIDCO in the Odisha Wind Energy Summit – Investor Round Table, held in Bhubaneswar on Friday.

GRIDCO, the nodal agency for development of renewable energy, in collaboration with its technical partner the iFOREST, organised the event which was attended by 25 key investors from across the country.

Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, in his keynote address at the summit, emphasised the state’s determination to extend comprehensive support to the wind industry for establishing power plants and manufacturing hubs.

Addressing the inaugural session, Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Finance & Energy, and Chairman of GRIDCO spoke on the state’s new Renewable Energy Policy (OREP)-2022 and Industrial Policy Resolution -2022. He expressed confidence that the summit would serve as a vital stepping-stone in Odisha’s journey towards accomplishing the prospective, vision and mission of wind energy sector.

Dinesh Dayanand Jagdale, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, appreciated the proactive initiatives of the Odisha Government in translating the mandate of OREP-2022 into reality towards achieving clean and green energy targets.

Director General of National Institute of Renewable Energy (NIWE) Rajesh Katyal gave a presentation and assured all cooperation and technical support from NIWE to harness the full potential of wind power in the state.

During the high-level deliberation, the Council on Energy Environment and Water (CEEW) presented its findings on Odisha’s wind energy potential. The technical partner of GRIDCO, iFOREST highlighted the state’s readiness to attract investment in the wind power sector.

Bhupinder Singh Poonia, MD, IDCO and IPICOL; Subhendra Kumar Nayak, Additional Secretary, Industries department and senior officials attended the summit.
