Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has confirmed death of four persons due to sunstroke in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 34 in the state this summer.
According to a press release of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Tuesday, total 147 alleged sunstroke death cases had been reported by the collectors as on June 3. Out of those, the cause of 30 victims was confirmed as sunstroke while 20 cases were not due to sunstroke.
The SRC further said two more alleged sunstroke death cases have been reported during the last 24 hours. While four sunstroke death cases have been confirmed during the period, 4 cases have been reported as not due to sunstroke out of the list pending with the districts.
“Total 149 alleged sunstroke death cases have been reported and 34 have been confirmed during this summer. While 24 cases are not due to sunstroke, 91 cases are pending with the district collectors for inquiry,” the SRC said.
