Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday confirmed detection of the first coronavirus patient in the state.
Director, Health and Medical Education & Training, Dr C B K Mohanty told the media that one positive case of Covid-19 had been found at Capital Hospital here.
He informed that the patient has a travel history to coronavirus-hit Italy.
Sources said he returned to India on March 6 and later took a train from New Delhi to Bhubaneswar.
Owing to coughing and fever the patient, who lives in Badagada area in the city, consulted some doctors in his neighbourhood and then got admitted in the hospital on March 14. He is currently in quarantine and his family members are also under observation, sources added.
