Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar card with the ration card of PDS (Public Distribution System) beneficiaries to September 15.
Earlier, the last date for the linkage was August 31.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain said the government has decided to extend the deadline to enable the PDS beneficiaries more time to link their Aadhaar cards with the ration cards.
The minister said the government has made the Aadhaar-ration card linkage mandatory to identify bogus PDS beneficiaries. Those who fail to link the two cards will not be able to avail ration under the PDS scheme from September 16, he added.
The government had earlier extended the deadline from July 31 to August 31 as over 34 lakh PDS beneficiaries in the state had not done the mandatory linking.
