Rourkela: Body of Pratima Pawal Kispatta, who was allegedly killed by her live-in partner in Mumbai, is being brought to Odisha in a private vehicle, sources said on Friday.
According to sources, the family of deceased, who belong to the BPL category, had earlier moved the state government, seeking financial help to bring back her mortal remains. Following which, Sundargarh Collector Parag Harshad Gavali facilitated transfer of Rs 30,000 from Indian Red Cross Society to their account to meet the necessary expenses. “I am a poor man, if it wasn’t for the collector we wouldn’t have been able to bring her body back on our own,” Pratima’s father told the media.
The body is expected to arrive in the state in the next 2-3 days.
Notably, the body of 25-year-old Pratima stuffed in a suitcase was found on Sunday morning on CST Road bridge at Chembur-Santacruz Road at Kurla West, where Metro project work was going on. Two days later, Mumbai police cracked the murder case with the arrest of her live-in partner Askar Manoj Barla (22), who allegedly strangulated her on Saturday evening on the suspicion of having an affair with another person.
