Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has extended the period for procurement of organic compost ‘Mo Khata’ at discount rate till December 31.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Health & Family Welfare Niranjan Oujari, in a statement in the Assembly on Tuesday said the Housing & Urban Development department has intimated the approval of government for the extension of date to all users.
The departments of Forest & Environment, Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment, Panchayatiraj & Drinking Water, SC&ST Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts have been informed about the extension to dispose of the available stock.
The government sells the organic compost at a discount price of Rs 10 per kg to popularise the use of Mo Khata among the people.
It may be noted that kiosks of Mo Khata have been opened in the areas under municipalities and NAC to enable the people to easily access the compost.
Mo Khata is a high-quality compost made of wet waste being generated after being processed at Micro Composting Centres. Produced with sustainable waste management technique, it helps keep the urban areas clean as well as garbage-free while reducing the burden on landfills.
