Odisha Govt Extends Tenure Of Consumer Panel Members To Avert Stalemate

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended the tenure of three members of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in a move to prevent disruption in its functioning.

An order issued by the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare department said that Pramode Kumar Prusty, Sudhiralaxmi Pattnaik, and Hemanta Kumar Mohanty will continue serving until the ongoing recruitment process concludes.

It was noted that the Commission currently handles more than 4,000 pending cases. The extension secures operational stability at a time when acting president Dillip Kumar Mohapatra’s term ends on March 15.

Without this move, the Commission risked a stalemate that could have delayed justice for thousands of consumers.
