Bhubaneswar: In a fresh salvo at the Odisha government over Naba Kishore Das’ murder, veteran Congress leader and MLA Narasingha Mishra on Thursday accused it of hiding the name of the suspect despite having admitted that conspiracy behind the killing was being probed.
The senior Congress leader claimed that the state government was forced to admit that there was a conspiracy behind the murder of the Minister, allegedly by policeman Gopal Das on January 29 at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district.
Stating that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik did not speak anything about conspiracy while giving a statement on the issue in the Assembly, he said the Minister of State for Home also failed to say anything on conspiracy behind the killing of Naba Das.
However, in reply to a question on February 27 in the Assembly, he admitted that conspiracy in the sensational murder case was being investigated.
Despite having admitted that there was a conspiracy, the government is hiding the name of the conspirator, Narasingha said, adding that the government must make it clear as to who is being suspected.
Stating that people will have faith in the government only if it makes things clear and transparent, the senior Congress leader said that the government is bound to answer questions raised by the opposition in a democracy.
Stressing that Naba Das murder issue will be raised again in the second phase of the budget session of the assembly, Narasingha said if running the House will be of no meaning if the government hides and suppresses information.
