Bhubaneswar: In view of the drought-like situation, the state government on Friday directed its officials at the field level to monitor the crop condition and submit the reports to their higher authorities.
Presiding a high-level meeting, here, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Arun Sahoo instructed that the officials should visit the areas under their jurisdiction and file the reports on the situation at ground level.
It was decided at the meeting to form a technical committee headed by the vice-chancellor of OUAT to oversee effective implementation of contingency crop plan. The officials of the departments concerned were directed to submit the data related to the rain deficiency to the higher authorities.
Secretaries of the related departments attended the meeting.
On August 31, Chief minister Naveen Patnaik had directed the government officials to implement contingency crop plan for the farmers in view of drought-like situation in the state.
