Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday hiked fare for all categories of buses under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism following a steep rise in the price of diesel in the market.
The fares of ordinary and express buses have been increased by three paise per km, while that of deluxe and AC deluxe buses will be dearer by six paise per km.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department, the fare for the ordinary bus will now be 70 p/km as against 67 p/km while that for express bus fare will be 73 p/km instead of 70 p/km.
Besides, deluxe category buses will now charge Rs 1.01 as against 95 p/km while passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses will have to pay Rs 1.23 per km as against Rs 1.17 per km.
