Bhubaneswar: Financial assistance being provided to differently-abled students of all special schools across Odisha have been increased.
The enhanced amount will be disbursed from April 1, 2020, informed Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Minister Ashok Chandra Panda on Thursday.
While Rs 1200 monthly assistance provided to residential students has been enhanced to Rs 1760, that for day scholars has been increased from Rs 250 to Rs 370. An annual allocation of Rs 3,75,90,000 has been made for this purpose, he said.
The minister further informed that Rs 10,000 will be provided to the special schools once every three years for the purchase of sports equipment, Rs 1 lakh will be provided once for purchase of furniture, Rs 50,000 for computer and Rs 60,000 for special software equipment.
A total of Rs 2,26,60,000 will be allocated for it, he added.
There are 103 special schools in Odisha. These assistance will also be provided to the differently-abled students pursuing Plus II.
