Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is in talks with Medanta Group for management of its Heart Hospital at Jharsuguda.
Minister of Health and Family Welfare Naba Kishore Das along with senior officers held a meeting with Dr Naresh Trehan, chairman of Medanta Group on management of the Heart Hospital in private-government partnership.
The Health and Family Welfare department, which presented the details regarding the project, stated that the construction work of the hospital had already been completed. The government would provide human resources and medical equipment as part of the agreement.
Dr Trehan was apprised of various incentives of the government for private investors in health sector under Make In Odisha programme. It was also pointed out that Jharsuguda was well connected on road, air and train network.
Managing director of Odisha State Medical Coroporation Ltd Dr Brundha D, Health director Dr Bijay Mohapatra, special secretary of the department Dr Ajit Mohanty, additional secretary Jasmin Patnaik, and director, cardiac unit, Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar Dr Prabhat Kumar Das were present at the meeting.
Following the meeting, a group of high-level officials from Medanta Group would visit Jharsuguda to take stock of the infrastructure of the Heart Hospital and hold discussion on the proposed cancer care hospital and affordable health care facility.
It may be noted that the government initiated the talks with the Medanta Group after the CARE Group withdrew from the project.
